Marvin Harold Pickens, Sr.
was born on January 29, 1922 in Adamsville, Tennessee the son of the late Marvin Otis and Edith Perkins Pickens.
On October 10, 1941 he was united in marriage to the former Rachel Chambers, who survives.
Mr. Pickens was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was of Methodist faith. He worked as a school bus driver and a farmer. Mr. Pickens also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He departed this life on November 9, 2005 at his residence in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 11 days.
Mr. Pickens is survived by his wife, Rachel Chambers Pickens of Adamsville, Tennessee;
a daughter, Doris Smith of Stantonville; 3 sons: Ronald Pickens and Winston Pickens, both of New Hope and Marvin Harold Pickens, Jr. of Henderson, Tennessee;
12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren;
a sister, Mattie Ruth Deryberry of Gulf Shores, Alabama; and lots of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Pickens and a grandson, James Harold “Jim Smith†.
