Mr. Martin Ray Benton, Sr. departed this life at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 17 days Monday morning, June 10, 2013 at his home in Saulsbury.
Mr. Benton was born October 24, 1937 to the late Robert Ray and Ethel Martin Benton in Thomasville, Missouri. On June 25, 1960 he was united in marriage to the former Delores Myers, who survives. He served in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1976 as a Technical Sergeant after 23 years of service. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Washington, where they lived for 20 years prior to moving to Hardeman County. He was Baptist in faith.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by two sons, Mark Allen Benton of Saulsbury and Martin R. Benton, Jr. and wife Teresa of Colorado Springs; a brother, Walter Allen Benton of Signal Mountain; and four sisters, Janet Benton of Memphis, Roberta Arnold of Arkansas, Darlene Campbell of Lakeland and Irene Morris of Lakeland. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nita Gore.
