She was the daughter of the late George Newton and Sarah Emma Rayburn Gullett. She was a Baptist and dedicated her life to nursing on the cancer ward of Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband William Simms and a daughter Kathy Marie Simms Hooten.
She is survived by a son Billy (Jeannette) Simms of Leesville, LA; a sister Frances Blanton of Chicago, IL; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and a brother Paul Gullett of Jackson, TN.
Mrs. Simms died at Rosewood Nursing Home in Lake Charles, LA
