Mrs. Howell passed away Friday morning at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar.
She was born in Middleton, TN, the daughter of the late Connie Euel and Eddie Pauline Davis Cox. She attended Middleton schools and on December 6, 1947, she married Mr. Walter Ermergean Howell in Corinth, MS. They were married almost 49 years at the time of his death on December 4, 1996.
Mrs. Howell worked as a homemaker and at Harmon and Master Slack in Bolivar for a combined 30 years. A member of the Brint's Chapel Baptist Church, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and working with flowers.
She leaves a daughter, Cathie Joyce Howell (Richard) Bourne of Saulsbury; three sons, Rickie David (Pam) Howell of Middleton, Tommy Gene (Mary) Howell of Henderson and Terry Wayne (Peggy) Howell of Middleton; two sisters, Dorothy Faye (Marvin) Crumpton and Patricia Dee (Jimmy) Hood, both of Memphis; two brothers, Carlos Lee (Mary) Cox and Lenard Gerald "Pete" (Lou) Cox, both of Middleton; seven grandchildren, David (Andrea) Howell, Candy (Andrew) Tigner, Shane (Lauren) Bourne, Stephen (Charity) Howell, Jon (Lisa) Howell, Kevin and Ben Howell; and nine great-grandchildren, Anna Kate, Gracie, Makinsey, Blake, Bo and Sally Anne Howell, Ellie Bourne, Kayla and Lily Tigner.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Cox and Euel Waylon Cox.
