Margaret Whitlow

Margaret J. Whitlow



was born in the Burnt Church Community of Hardin County, Tennessee on March 31, 1916 the daughter of the late William Oscar and Minnie Kelly Jerrolds.



On October 27, 1934 she was united in marriage to Raymond Whitlow, who preceded her in death on November 11, 1971.



Mrs. Whitlow and her husband, Raymond, owned and operated Whitlow’s Market for many years prior to his death. She also loved working in the cafeteria of Hardin County High School and greatly missed the students after her retirement at age 72. She loved gardening and was always canning and freezing fresh vegetables. Mrs. Whitlow also loved making beautiful quilts and had made a special quilt for each of her grandchildren. She lived her entire life in Hardin County and was a charter member of Double Springs Baptist Church.



She departed this life on December 3, 2006 at her home in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 3 days.



Mrs. Whitlow is survived by 3 daughters: Helen Meredith of Pickwick Dam, Tennessee, Sue Williams and her husband, Dennis, of Savannah, Tennessee and Janey Adams and her husband, John, of Savannah, Tennessee; one son, Jim Whitlow and his wife, Ruth, of Savannah, Tennessee;

nine grandchildren: Karen Talley, Keith Whitlow, Wesley Williams, Margaret Pincomb, Wade Williams, John Raymond Whitlow, Whit Adams, Walton Williams and Laura Hutchison and eleven great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Whitlow; a granddaughter, Susan Williams Walker; 3 brothers: Hundley Jerrolds, Tom Jerrolds, and Billy Jerrolds;

and 3 sisters: Mary McFall, Jo Moore and Robbie Whitlow.
