Margaret Stroup Hair was born October 16, 1923 in Henry County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Noel and Marie Chance Stroup.
On December 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to Sam H. Hair who preceded her in death on December 17, 2006.
Mrs. Hair was a School Teacher for 49 years for the McNairy County School System. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. Mrs. Hair taught 5 generations of students during her 49 year tenure as a teacher. She was selected as teacher of the year in 1991. She also acquired several grants and scholarships for students during her tenure. Mrs. Hair was a member of the McNairy County Retired Teachers Association and the Tennessee Education Association. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Matron, past mother adviser of Rainbow Girls and a holder of the Grand Cross of Color. She was also a Girl Scout Leader.
Mrs. Hair departed this life on February 26, 2008 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 4 Months, 10 Days. She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Vandiver of Adamsville, TN, Janet Jones of Castalian Springs, TN, Nina Brewer of Pulaski, TN; two sisters, Becky Lewis of Jackson, TN, Nancy Browning of Milan, TN; five grandchildren, Chris Jones, Brian Jones, Jennifer (Vandiver) Hammock, Kaylee Brewer, John Brewer and two great grandchildren, Alexis Jones, Blake Jones.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hair was preceded in death by a brother, J. C. Stroup.
