Mrs. Cox passed away Monday evening at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widow of Curtis Cox, who died on Feb. 7, 1984, she was a secretary at Hornsby School for over ten years and was a co-owner of AC Cox General Merchandise Store with her husband for 40 years. She was born to the late Tom D. and Sara Erema Fawcett Barnes in Hardeman County, Tennessee and lived in the area all of her life. She was a longtime member of Hornsby Baptist Church and was active in the Golden Sounds Choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Cox Emerson of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a son and his wife, Tommy and Karen Cox of Hornsby, TN; a sister, Lucille T. Barnes of Hornsby, TN; a brother, Billy Barnes of Hornsby, TN; and two granddaughters, Crystal Cox of Nashville, TN and Misty Cox of Murfreesboro, TN.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby, Kenneth, Jack and Joe Barnes and one sister, Madge Barnes.
