Margaret Jerlene (Jerry) Willis Cain was born April 19, 1929 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Albert and Maude Crangle Willis.
She was united in marriage to Troy Cain on November 25, 1948. Mr. Cain preceded her in death on October 14, 1996, following almost 48 years of marriage.
Mrs. Cain was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Selmer for 11 years before opening Jerry's Beauty Salon, which she operated for 55 years. She loved shopping, going to the movies and out to eat. Hospitality was one of her spiritual gifts-she enjoyed inviting people into her home to share a meal together. Jerry was known by many as "the bread lady" due to the delicious loaves she would prepare for church dinners and to share with others. She was an immaculate housekeeper, and enjoyed working in her yard and tending her flowers-she truly had a green thumb. Jerry attended meetings of the local HAM Radio Club with her husband Troy, and continued to meet for breakfast monthly with the Club following his death. Jerry loved her church families at the Fourth Street and Stantonville churches of Christ, and was faithful in her attendance as long as she was able.
Mrs. Cain departed this life on September 25, 2022 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 93 Years, 5 Months, 6 Days. She is survived by four nieces: Jean Martin, Janet Rinehart, Dot McClain, and Teresa Bradley; five nephews: Terry Moore, Andy Willis, Phillip Henson, Jackie Willis, and Donald Willis; and numerous great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cain was preceded in death by four brothers: A. C. Willis, Howard Willis, Charles Glen Willis, and Tommy Willis, who died in infancy; three sisters: Pearl Sweat, Bertha Moore, and Mary Henson; and four nephews: Bobby Moore, Gary Moore, Charlie Moore, and Tommy Willis.
