Marcus McKee, Sr., 88, of Middleton, passed from this life Wed., September 7, 2022, at Pine Meadows Healthcare Center in Bolivar. He was the widower of Emma Jane McKee, who died in 2016.
He was born Monday, August 13, 1934, in Hardeman County, son of the late Eulas Rayford McKee and Ivy Mae Majors McKee and lived his whole life here. He met Emma Jane Hannis and married her on July 14, 1958. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2016. Mr. McKee worked for the county for a short time, but spent over 50 years as a sawmiller and timber cutter. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially for 'coons, but greatly loved being around his family and taking his grandkids fishing. He was known to tinker around as a 'shade-tree' mechanic, always working on motors or engines. Mr. McKee was Baptist in faith.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Janice Howell (Harold) and Sherry Outland (Donnie), all of Middleton and Camilla Hodge (Bobby) of Hornsby; a son, Mark McKee (Polly) of Middleton; four sisters, Kathleen Vales of Saulsbury, Nettie Sue McCullar of Selmer, Carolyn McCullar of Bethel Springs and Linda Stanfield of Jackson; a brother, Rayford McKee of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Ashley Bass, Felicia Woods, Kristi Wilbanks, DJ Outland, Derek McKee, Shanon McKee, Bryan, Josh and David Hodge; 18 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Tommy, Murley Joe and William Earl McKee; and 2 sisters, Willie Mae Dollar and Martha Pearl Jordan.
