Maggie Hill Floyd, 88 of Memphis, TN passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at De Soto Baptist Hospital in Southaven, MS. Born in McNairy County, TN on August 23, 1924 to the late John Calvin and Honor Mae Melton Hill.
Mrs. Floyd was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was affectionately known to all as, "Grams." She spent her life caring for her family and she cherished every moment with them. An avid gardener, she loved tending her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking, quilting and had a wonderful sense of humor.
During World War II, she worked at Fischer Aircraft as a riveter on B24 and B25 aircrafts. She leaves a legacy of love and commitment to family and friends that will live on in everyone she knew.
Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Albert Mason Floyd; daughter, Betty Mae Floyd; three brothers, John Henry Hill, Calvin Earl Hill and Carl O. Hill. She is survived by her daughters, Audrey Anne F. Landers (Bill) of Hernando, MS, Faylene F. Bryant (Floyd) of Harmontown, MS and Linda Kay F. Kelley (Bill) of Charlotte, TN; six grandchildren, William E. Landers, Jr. (Elizabeth), Jeffrey Lee Landers (Debbie), Theresa Henke (Tim), Meredith Norteman (Scott), Dale Bryant and J. Mason Boswell (Joanna); thirteen great grandchildren, Jeffrey, Clark and Lydia Landers, Audrey, William, and Peter Landers, Reid and Liam Norteman, Emily, Matthew and Maggie Boswell (named in honor of Mrs. Floyd), Benjamin and Ethan Henke; four sisters, Mildred Pyron (James) of Selmer, TN, Callie Lipford (Charles) of Adamsville, TN, Birdie Black of Leapwood, TN, Allie Waggoner (Delos) of Leapwood, TN; her beloved companions, Basil Durham and Janie Jaimez.
