Magella Pierce, 89, of Bolivar, died Friday, December 24, 2005 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of Franklin Woodrow Pierce, who died in 1957, she worked as a waitress for many years. Mrs. Pierce was born December 22, 1916, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late George Adam Burnett and Bertie Mae Chappell Burnett and had lived here all of her life. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Graveside services were 2:30 PM Monday, December 26, 2005, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Hickory Valley with Bertie Moore and James Howell officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar were in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include four daughters, Susan Doyle of Whiteville, Martha Scarborough of Humboldt, Beverly Culver and Joyce Mills, both of Bolivar; two sons, Terry Wayne "Sid" Pierce of Bolivar and Jimmy Pierce of Sebring, Fla.; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and William and a daughter, Debra Jo.
