Mae Ola Whitten was born May 24, 1924 in Bethel Springs, TN the daughter of the late Albine and Myrtle Robinson Kernodle.
She was united in marriage to Wendell Whitten on November 3, 1943. Mr. Whitten preceded her in death on May 29, 1995.
Mrs. Whitten was a homemeker and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer, Tennessee. She loved doing needlework, gardening, and was a wonderful cook. She was the happiest when taking care of her family.
Mrs. Whitten departed this life on February 3, 2012 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 8 Months, 10 Days. She is survived by two daughters, Kay Bolyn of Santee, CA and Beverly Lambert and husband Jeff of Selmer, TN; two sisters, Martha Nell Crowe of Bethel Springs, TN and Alice Chandler of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren: Wendi Lane and husband Michael of Ewabe Hawaii, Amy Mleczko and husband John of SanDiego, CA, Jeri Sellers and husband, Corey of Beech Bluff, TN, Brady Robison of Bethel Springs, TN, Jennie Cox and husband Adam of Selmer, TN, and Autumn Brown and husband Jerrod of Nashville, TN; seven great- grandchildren: Kelli Mleczko, Jason Mleczko, Maegan McDaniel, Sidney Cox, Libby Cox, Tanner Lane, Amanda Lane; two excellent doctors, Dr. Timothy Linder with Primecare of Selmer and Dr. William R. Bartz, also with Primecare of Selmer and consultant for Legacy Hospice.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Robison; a son, Jerry D. Whitten; son-in-law, John Bolyn; five sisters: Minnie Baucum, Loreda Tull, Maggie May, Daphine Gilbert, and Betty Johnson; and a brother, John D. Kernodle.
