Jeanne Lynn Hinton Wagoner was born March 29, 1947, to Isom Granville Hinton, Jr. and Willie Mae Barker Hinton of Savannah, Tennessee. Lynn died Saturday, May 18, 2013, in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
She was married to Terry Wagoner, and they were celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
Lynn leaves her husband, Terry Wagoner; a son, Bert McCarter of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and his wife, Katie McCarter; a daughter, Nina Sawyers and her husband, Samuel Sawyers of Nashville, Tennessee; five special grandchildren, namely, Georgia Ann McCarter, Matthew Isom McCarter, Maddox James "MJ" McCarter, Alyssa Mae Sawyers, and Julius Monroe Sawyers. Lynn left a brother, Robert Granville Hinton, of Lenoir City, Tennessee and his wife, Amy, and her beloved nephew and niece, Mary Grace Hinton and Granville Harrison Hinton. Lynn has many first cousins (and their spouses) who are originally from the Savannah, Tennessee area or still reside in Savannah, Tennessee: Mark Alexander, Ginger Alexander Ingle, Judy Barker Burnham, LuAnn Barker Givens, Jay Barker, Alan Fariss, Jeanne Belle Fariss Perry, and John Ed Fariss. Lynn further left behind her half-Uncles and Aunts, Lois Ann Barker Pierce of Savannah, Tennessee, Joe Barker of Pickwick, Tennessee, and Rick Barker of Columbia, Tennessee. Finally, Lynn left behind her special beloved Aunt, Helen Alexander of Savannah, Tennessee.
Lynn was a fully-vested and retired school teacher in the State of Tennessee, having taught in Memphis, Tennessee, Savannah, Tennessee, and Gallatin,Tennessee. Lynn loved the Tennessee Volunteers, and graduated, with honors, from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where she was a Kappa Delta. Lynn enjoyed her retirement years in Little River, South Carolina and North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with her beloved husband, Terry. Her hobbies were gardening, golfing, reading, shopping, beach combing, cooking, traveling, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends via social media or in person.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae Barker Hinton (June 5, 1988) and Isom Granville Hinton (April 27, 1996).
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 4:00 PM at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah. Lynn left specific instructions for her niece, Mary Grace Hinton; her brother, Robert Hinton; and her son, Bert McCarter, to read scripture and deliver eulogies to celebrate her life. Lynn was cremated, and a private service was also held in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on May 21, 2013.
