He was born at Leapwood and grew up at Finger, the son of the late Newton Perry and Barham Matlock Talbott. He attended schools at Finger and graduated Chester County High School in 1939. He entered the U.S. Navy in October 1942. He served in the European-Pacific Theatre of Operations aboard the USS Arkansas. He was at Omaha Beach Normandy on D-Day and also saw action at Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He also served at the battle of Cherbourg, France. He returned in October 1945. He was married to Faye McIntyre in October 1944. They had been married sixty two years this past October. They lived most of their married life at Finger. Mr. Talbott owned and operated L.E. Talbott Grocery and Feed Store at Finger. He retired from the store in 1978.
He is survived by his wife Faye Daveree McIntyre Talbott of Finger; a son Ronald Talbott and wife Diane of Henderson; a daughter Deborah Harrington and husband Paul of Versaille, KY; six grandchildren, Tonja Mason, John E. Talbott, Bryan L. Tolbott, Paul Harrington, IV, Nicholas D. Harrington and James B. Harrington; nine great grandchildren, Ava Jewell and Claire E. Talbott, Eric, Rachel, Lauren and Eli Talbott, Gavin, Mindy, and Emma Harrington; and a sister Lonnie Mae Garner of Finger.
He was preceded in death by a son Michael Edward Talbott in 1947.
