Luther Wayne Reaves

Luther Wayne Reaves of Florence, AL was born March 9, 1931 in Wayne Co, TN, the son of the late Henry Dewey and Flora Sherrill Reaves. He was united in marriage to the former Willie Ruth Lancaster on May 24, 1953.

Mr. Reaves was retired from General Motors and had moved from Taylor, MI to Florence, AL in 1991. He was a member of the Scotts Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee and U. A. W. union.

Mr. Reaves departed this life on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at El Reposo Nursing Home in Florence, Alabama at the age of 91 Years, 7 Months, 11 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Willie Ruth Lancaster Reaves of Florence, AL; a son, Gerald Wayne Reaves, wife, Danita, of Malvena, OH; granddaughter, Jena; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Landen; a special niece, Doris Lynn Banks of Memphis, TN; brothers, Jim Reaves of Bethel Srpings, TN, Cliff Reaves of Adamsville, TN and Clifton Reaves of Selmer, TN; sisters, Sue Willard of Henderson, TN, Maudie Harris of Savannah, TN and Flora Jean Cates of Selmer, TN and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan.

Services will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Greg Eaton and Tim Hanback officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 1 pm to service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Clifton Reaves, Jim Reaves, Cliff Reaves, Joey Reaves, Vernon Reaves and Anthony Moody.
