Luther Edward Hobson, 66, of Pocahontas, died Sunday, April 17,
2005 at Bolivar General Hospital.
Mr. Hobson was a railroad conductor for Norfolk-Southern Railroad for 40 years an~ jalso raised cattle and farmed. He was born December 5, 1938 in Alcorn County, Miss., son of the late Rufus Neely Hobson and Maxine Wardlow Hobson and was raised here. Mr. Hobson graduated from Middleton High School in 1958 and lived in Memphis and Tuscumbia, Ala. for many years before
returning here to make his home. He was Church of Christ in belief
as well as a 32nd Degree Mason.
Services were 10 AM Thursday, April 21 at Shackelford Funeral
Directors Middleton chapel with Nat Evans officiating. Burial was
in Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.
Survivors include one sister and niece, Geraldine Hobson Owens
and Renee' Owens Todd, both of Alpharetta, GA and one nephew,
Phillip C. Owens of Columbia, SC.
