Ludie Cary Shelby Piercey



was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on February 20, 1917 the daughter of the late William P. and Eula Haggard Cary.



She was united in marriage to Hardy Shelby on October 24, 1936, he preceded her in death on April 17, 2000. On May 23, 2002 she married James A. Piercey who survives.



She retired from Brown Shoe Company where she worked as a supervisor. During her life she had lived in Savannah, Tennessee and in 1979 she moved to Bells, Tennessee. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Her hobbies included vegetable gardening and she loved to quilt.



Mrs. Piercey departed this life on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the age of 91 years, 17 days.



In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter: Catherine Shelby Via and her husband Ross of Bells, Tennessee; stepdaughter: Kathy Davis and her husband Steve of Memphis, Tennessee; Stepson: Roger Piercey and his wife Lila of Memphis, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren: Ruste Via and his wife Sara, Candi Via, Cherri Freeman and her husband Howie;

4 step-grandchildren: Stephanie Reeves and her husband Rex, Jeremy Davis, Jessie Colley, Jordan Colley; 4 great-grandchildren: Hudson Freeman, Cade Freeman, Andi-Cate Via, Brooks Via; 2 step-great-grandchildren: Ruby Reeves, Tripp Reeves; and several friends and loved ones.



In addition to her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Luther Cary.
