Ludelle Rhodes

October 23, 1915 — July 6, 2008

She was born and reared in near Jacks Creek, the daughter of the late Claude O. and Cora Newsome Morris. She graduated Chester County High School in 1935 and from Freed-Hardeman University in 1937. In 1941 she was married to William Harvell Rhodes of the Unity Community. They made their home in California at Camp Roberts during WWII. After the war they moved to Jackson where Mr. Rhodes worked for the TN State Department of Employment Security. Mrs. Rhodes had been a school teacher at Harmony School in Chester County, a clerk at Gibson’s in Jackson and also at Smith’s 5 & 10 Store in Henderson. She was a member of North Jackson Baptist Church for 25 years and taught Sunday school. Mr. Rhodes died in January 1977. She moved back to Henderson and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson where she taught Sunday school. She was also involved in Girl Scouts for several years.



She loved being a wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, friend, neighbor and Christian.



She is survived by two daughters; Harvette Green of Rockport, TX and Nancy Oversmith of Sunrise Beach, MO; two grandchildren, Byron Green of Houston, TX and Dr. Jay Koonce of Charleston, SC; two great grandchildren, Austin Green and Marissa Dell Green both of Houston, TX.



She was preceded in death by a brother, John Morris and two sisters, Tina Carpenter and Ophelia Morris.
