Lucion Owen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on October 8, 1965, in Sheffield, Alabama, to Donnie Vaughn Cosby and the late Houston Cosby. He was united in marriage to his cherished wife, Jimmie Whitman, on May 26, 1984, forming a partnership filled with love and support that lasted for 40 wonderful years.
For over four decades, Lucion dedicated his life to the logging profession, working tirelessly across Alabama, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Tennessee. For the past 18 years, he has been with Randy Elliott Logging in Stantonville, TN, where he put his heart and soul into the job.
Lucion's spirit was distinctly him —quirky and full of life, he had a delightful way of expressing himself that was uniquely his own. He was an avid collector of odd trinkets, often seen exploring flea markets hand-in-hand with his grandchildren. Fishing was among his favorite pastimes, offering him moments of peace and connection with nature.
A man of immense generosity, Lucion had a big heart that extended beyond his family; he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he cherished the time spent with them.
Lucion departed this life on February 1, 2025, in Jackson, Tennessee, leaving behind a legacy of love at the age of 59 years, 3 months, and 24 days. He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Owen, of Selmer, TN; daughters, Ashley Moran and husband Edwin of Henderson, TN, and Tori Barnes and husband Jonathan of Phil Campbell, AL; son, Allen Owen, of Selmer, TN; mother, Donnie Cosby, of Haleyville, AL;
ten grandchildren: Z’Lara Owen, Tymber Moran, Mason Owen, Gabriel Owen, Earlea Owen, Elizee Bell Owen, Zepplyn Owen, Sycamore Owen, Troy Price, and Case Barnes; great-grandchild, Journie Shoe; three sisters, Donna Carson and husband Dewayne of Phil Campbell, AL, Shelia Mobley of Haleyville, AL, Angelia Cosby of Haleyville, AL; a brother, Lawrence Cosby of Corinth, MS; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
In addition to his father, Lucion was preceded in death by his two brothers, Daniel Cosby and Jeff Owen. While he may no longer be with us, the impact he made on the lives of those who loved him will remain forever in their hearts.
