Lexington, TN: Mildred Lucille Gilliam Morris, age 78, died August 20, 2008 at Oak Haven Assisted Living near Lexington.
She was born and reared in Henderson, the daughter of the late Richard Oliver and Mary Feddye Washburn Gilliam. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1949 and that same year was married to V.C. Morris of the Sweetlips Community of Chester County. They made their home in Henderson and later Lexington. Mr. Morris was a live stock trader and later employed by the Lexington Sale Company. Mr. Morris died in 1993 and Mrs. Morris continued to make her home near Lexington. She was a member of the Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Henderson.
She is survived by three sons, Ray Morris and wife Carol of Darden, Ricky Morris and wife Joan of Huron and Randal Morris and wife Jan of Jackson; three brothers, Benny Gilliam of Lexington, Oliver Gilliam of Union City and Joe Dennis Gilliam of Atoka; one sister, Edna Fay Newman of Green Cove Springs, FL; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, V.C. Morris, a brother Harrod Gilliam and three sisters; Jewell Hearn and Inez Gilliam, and Vernell Barham.
