Lucille Heard

Lucille Nowlin Gillis Townsend Heard was born January 27, 1914 in Wayne Co., Tennessee, the daughter of the late Walter and Nancy Parlie Shelton Nowlin. She was united in marriage to Homer Gillis, Roscoe Townsend, and Reuben Heard and all preceded her in death.Mrs. Heard was a retired production worker with GE and was a member of the Church of Christ and departed this life on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Gallatin Health Care in Gallatin, Tennessee at the age of 95 years, 22 days.She is survived by a sister, Betty Nowlin Edwards of Gallatin, TN and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husbands and parents, Mrs. Heard was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Joyce Gillis; infant twin sons, James and John Gillis; brothers, Walter Nowlin, Jr. and Bill Nowlin; and sisters, Frankie Barnett and Marie Shands Beck. Services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Denton Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be on Friday, February 20, 2009 from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
