Lucile Holyfield, age 95 of Bolivar, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Bolivar General Hospital.A native of Hornsby, she was born November 4, 1912 to the late Elbert and Callie Howell Rook in Memphis, TN. She married Lenon McCoy 'Coy' Holyfield November 23, 1926. After 70 years of marriage, Mr. Holyfield passed away August 8, 1996. She worked as a psychiatric nurse at Western Mental Health Institute for twenty years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Eastern Star, an avid gardener and a volunteer at the nursing home. She also carried folks to church and collected flower money. She was a member of Hornsby Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member as well as the last surviving charter member.Survivors include a daughter, Shirley McClintock and her husband Royce of Nashville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Melissa and Donald Waylett and Randall and Julie McClintock; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, Jerry and Lenon Holyfield, and one grandson, Len McClintock.
