Louise Wood

Louise Bailey Wood was born July 9, 1915 in Saltillo, Mississippi the daughter of the late Isham and Catherine Turnage Bailey. She was united in marriage to Dr. Hiram G. Wood, Sr. on February 2, 1947. Dr. Wood preceded her in death on March 21, 1997. Mrs. Wood was a retired Registered Nurse, having worked for several years for the Tennessee Department of Public Health Disabled Children\'s Division, the Hardin County Health Department and the McNairy County Health Department. She was a graduate of the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Selmer First Baptist Church where she formerly served as the Director of the Children\'s Pre-School Department, and she was also a former member of the Selmer Junior Civic League. Mrs. Wood departed this life on March 20, 2006 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 8 Months, 11 Days. She is survived by a son, H. George Wood, Jr. and wife Catherine L. of Memphis, Tennessee; two granddaughters: Amy C. Wood of Memphis, Tennessee and Emily E. Wood of Greenville, South Carolina; and two nieces, Jane Rauchle and husband Franklin of Milan, Tennessee and Celia Murley and husband Ricky of Henderson, Tennessee. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wood was also preceded in death by three brothers: J. F. Bailey, Everett Bailey and Cleo Bailey.
