Louise Whittle

Henderson, TN: Mary Louise Cobb Whittle, age 88, died July 18, 2008 at Chester County Healthcare.



She was born and reared in Macon, GA, the daughter of the late Thomas Jacob and Vera Mae Grant Cobb. She graduated from Miller High School in Macon and attended Freed – Hardeman College. She was married to James Walker Whittle in 1945. She worked at Bibb Mfg. Company in Macon as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk. They moved to Henderson in 1954, where Bro. Whittle was a professor in the Business Department and Mrs. Whittle began work in the Business Office as a bookkeeper in 1958 and retired in 1985.



She was a lifetime member of the Freed–Hardeman Associates. She was well known for the many cards and notes of encouragement she sent. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.



She is survived by her husband; Dr. J. Walker Whittle; two daughters, Dwina Willis and husband David and Rosemary McKnight and husband Gary all of Henderson; five grandchildren; Becky Welch of Henderson, Richard Willis of Auburn, GA, Chuck Willis of New York, Jonathan McKnight of Decatur, AL and Jason McKnight of Albertville, AL and three great-grandchildren.
