LORNA THOMPSON
Henderson, TN: Lorna Jean Steed Thompson, age 69, passed away July 18, 2022 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 10, 1952 in Jackson, TN, the daughter of the late Billy Burnett ‘Bill’ and Betty Jo Scott Steed. She grew up in Henderson and was a 1970 graduate of Chester County High School. She attended Jackson State Community College for a time.
She married Tony Thompson on March 11, 1972. They made their home in Henderson in the Sugar Creek Subdivision for the last forty-three years. On February 24, 1975, they welcomed their daughter, Aletha – their pride & Joy.
She worked for the Southwest Human Resources for a time but was primarily a stay at home wife, mother and Mimmy.
She loved being a ‘Cheerleader Mom” and loved being a “Mimmy” to Abbie and Tyler, her precious grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson. She enjoyed flower gardening and working in her yard.
Lorna is survived by her husband, of Fifty years, Tony Thompson of Henderson; a daughter, Aletha Glover (Bobby) of Jackson; two grandchildren, Abigail Rainey Glover and Tyler Scott Glover and a sister, Dianne Chappell of Henderson; also, three special friends, Betty Record, Doris Siler and Martha Evelyn Cawthon.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 23rd at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Chris Kitchen and Keith Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue Saturday 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM service time.
