Lora Bevis

Lora Gillis Bevis was born September 29, 1913 in Wayne County, Tennessee the daughter of the late James Thomas and Susan Rich Gillis. Mrs. Bevis departed this life Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Countryside Nursing Home in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee at the age of 95 Years, 5 Months, 25 Days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Carvel Bevis; two brothers, Ira and James Gillis; and a sister, Irene Gillis. Mrs. Bevis had worked at a Childrens Christian Home and was a member of Salem Church of Christ in Lawrence County. She is survived by four daughters, Christine Brewer and husband, Kenneth of Florence, AL, Gerline Daniel of Leoma, TN, Dotie Pennington of Florence, AL; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Bevis of Lawrenceburg, TN; and a special friend, Mary Lou Luna of Lawrenceburg, TN; a brother, Coy Gillis of Lawrenceburg, TN; three sisters, Ivanora Bratton and Laveda Murphy, and Vesta Murphy all of Collinwood, TN; Services will be Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee with Bill Brazier officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens at Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
