Lonnie Lee Murphy, I was born on June 18, 1955 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late Raymond Lloyd and Gertie May Hopper Taylor.
On January 6, 2011, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Ward, who survives.
Mr. Murphy honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He was a self-employed carpenter and did all types of carpentry work for 20 years. He also worked as the Chief of Police in Clifton, Tennessee, Deputy Sherriff in McNairy County, Tennessee, and as a carpenter at Clayton Homes in Savannah, Tennessee. Lonnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching westerns, gardening, animals, and eating steak dinners.
Lonnie Lee Murphy, I departed this life on January 1, 2022 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 66 years, 6 months, and 14 days.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Murphy of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sons, Dale Wright of Savannah, Tennessee and Lonnie Murphy, II and his wife Brooke of Morris, Illinois; daughters, Shannon Hughes and her husband Kavin of Lexington, Tennessee, Jana Copeland of Savannah, Tennessee, Shonda Reeves and her husband Billy of Counce, Tennessee, and Robin Butler and her husband Mark of Savannah, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Jessica Brewster and her husband Frank and Kelly Brown and her husband Rodney, all of Savannah, Tennessee; brothers, Johnny Murphy, Joel Murphy and his wife Melissa, and Michael Murphy, all of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Sherry Irvin and her husband Danny Joe and Tracy Morris and her husband Dewayne, all of Savannah, Tennessee; 33 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mackelti Reeves and an infant brother.
