Lois Hayes was born November 5, 1930 in Cypress Inn, TN the daughter of the late Thomas Floyd and Ethel Mae Montgomery Hayes. She died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at her home in Collinwood, Tennessee at the age of 83 Years, 11 Months, 30 Days. After spending many years in Flint, Michigan she came home to Wayne County. Mrs. Lois was a member of the Church of Christ, attending congregations at South Highland and Collinwood. She enjoyed serving her community in various organizations including Boy Scouts of America, Daughter of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and the Wayne County Democratic Party. While living in Michigan she held several secretarial positions and was a retired librarian at the Wayne County Library.
She is survived by two sons, Shawn Atchley and wife Jane of Waynesboro, TN and William Morris and wife Lisa of FLushing , MI, a daughter, Sandra Smith and husband James of Burton, MI, a brother, John Hayes, Sr. and wife Marie of Lutts, TN, four grandchildren, Tom Garty, Steve Garty, Stacy Garty, and Antwaun Smith, great grandchildren, Tressa Garty, Anastasia Garty, Thomas Garty, Brooklyn Garty, Steven Garty, Jr., and Jayvion Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Hayes and a sister, Ola Mae Hayes.
Services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Shckelford Funeral DIrectorsChapel in Collinwood with Joseph Wallace and Tony Love officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery near Lutts, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Friday, November 7, 2014 from 6:00-9:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
