Lockie Mae Mitchell

Lockie Mae Higginbottom Mitchell was born February 1, 1913 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late French Emmet and Dora Mae Isbell Higginbottom.



She was united in marriage to Ward Mitchell on July 10, 1933. Mr. Mitchell preceded her in death on July 10, 1980 following 47 years of marriage.



Mrs. Mitchell was a graduate of Selmer High School. She was formerly employed in retail sales for more than 20 years, and was a member of the Selmer First Christian Church.



Mrs. Mitchell departed this life on March 21, 2013 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 100 Years, 1 Month, 20 Days. She is survived by three sons: Robert D. (Bobby) Mitchell and wife Tommye, Wayne D. (Doug) Mitchell and wife Barbara J., and Joe F. Mitchell, all of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Sue Carolyn (Mitchell) Howie and husband Bobby W. of Selmer, TN; seven grandchildren: Mandy Caroline (Mitchell) Lang, Robert Darwyn Mitchell II and wife Karen Ford, John William Mitchell and wife Lauren P., Regina Kaye (Mitchell) Hollingsworth and husband Tim H., Pollyanna Joan (Mitchell) Justice and husband Neil, Wayne Douglas Mitchell II and wife Julie Ann Cooper, Timothy Wright Howie and wife Susan Malone; twelve great-grandchildren: Caroline Elizabeth Lang, Catherine Grace Lang, Andrew Ryan Mitchell, Stephen Ford Mitchell, James Travis Hollingsworth, Amber Hollingsworth, Anna Marie Ray, Lincoln Reed Mitchell, Olivia Catherine Mitchell, Molly Grace Mitchell, Mitchell Wright Howie, Matthew David Howie; a great-great-grandchild, Leighem Hollingsworth; a sister, Lavara (Doll) (Higginbottom) Hurst of Selmer, TN; and many extended family and friends.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna (Higginbottom) Tull and Julia (Higginbottom) Reedy; two brothers, John N. Higginbottom and S. E. Higginbottom.
