Lloyd A. Kirby of Selmer was born on July 1, 1919, in McNairy County to the late Hurley and Myrtice Archer Kirby. He was a member of Fourth Street Church of Christ in Selmer. Mr. Kirby was retired after 33 years service as a bus driver with the Memphis Area Transit Authority and was a member of the Memphis Transit Authority Union. He lived in Memphis for 43 years.Mr. Kirby passed from this life on Friday, April 10, 2009, at his home at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 9 days.Survivors are his wife Earline Melson Kirby of Selmer; a son, Jimmy Kirby of Selmer; two step-daughters, Pam Desandre and husband Frank of Crump, Tennessee, and Lisa Hefner and husband Alan of Milledgeville, Tennessee; 3 step grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren; a niece, Johnnie Blakey and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Annis on September 17, 1996. He was also preceded in death by a sister Faye King.
