LLOYD KING
Henderson, TN: Lloyd Houston King age 90 passed away January 15, 2019 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 11, 1928 in Chester County, the son of the late Isaac Newton and Ella Elizabeth Carroll King.
He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.
He worked for Carlyle Daniels service station, delivered grocery for Ragland-Potter warehouse and in his later years drove a school bus and worked in the maintenance department for Chester County for 25 years and was a part time farmer. In addition to driving the school bus, he drove the band and ball teams to competitions and games.
He and his wife were married 67 years. He enjoyed driving bus No. 1 for 25 years along the “Mifflin Route.” After retiring from “public work,” he loved to ride his John Deere tractor in the hay field cutting, raking, and baling. Taking his “B” and “MT” John Deere tractors to festivals and other events was a favorite hobby. He also loved riding his grandchildren around on the tractors.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Lee Nell Stanfill King of Henderson; children, Nancy (Tommy) Connor of Luray and Jerry (Lisa) King of Henderson; five grandchildren, Randy Connor, Lane Wise (Jenny), Emily Connor Harris (Tracy) and Adam Wise (Ashlee); six great grandchildren, Hank & Maggie Wise, Thomas, Ely, & LacyAnn Harris and Alixis Wise and a sister, Juanita McAlexander of Bells, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Ada Hart, Bernice Davis, Nellie Sue Davis and Estelle King and a great grandson, Tyler Dunivan.
Funeral services will be 11:00 Am Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Geary and Bro. Tracy Snider officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at East Main 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday.
