Lisa Dawn Bishop was born Lisa Austin on January 11, 1960 to Bill and Carolyn Austin of Sardis, TN. She was a graduate of Scotts Hill High School, where she earned the titles of Miss SHHS, Cutest, and Best All Around. Lisa had a personality of gold, endearing her to so many. In her early days, she enjoyed riding and showing horses. She later discovered a love of painting. As an adult, she spent the majority of her life dedicated to her passion--teaching children. She earned her early childhood education degree from Jackson State Community College. Lisa went on to become the director of the Adamsville First United Methodist Church Preschool for over 25 years. She was a member of Milledgeville Community Church, a lover of all things chocolate, and had an uncommon affection for the hue of blue.
Lisa married her beloved husband, Tim Bishop, in 1989 and they made their home in Enville, TN. Their daughter Brittany was born a few years later. Lisa’s greatest joy in life was being Granna to Brittany’s daughter, Hallie, who was born in 2020. She received her cancer diagnosis a few months before Hallie was born and we know Hallie was the reason Lisa fought so hard for so long.
Lisa was preceded in death by both of her parents, Bill and Carolyn Austin. She leaves behind husband Tim, daughter Brittany (Paul) Wyatt, granddaughter Hallie Wyatt, brother Mark (Brenda) Austin, sister-in-law Debbie (Jimmy) Smith, nieces Stacie (Todd) Sullivan and Star Austin, and nephew Clint (Hannah) Smith. She also leaves her great-nephews Wade Sullivan, Mason Sullivan, and Peyton Smith, whom she loved very dearly. Lisa leaves behind a set of amazing aunts (June Alexander, Sandy Crews, Tommie Powers Harris, and Helen Ruth) who were a blessing to her throughout her life, but especially in her final days.
Lisa passed from this life on July 18, 2024 at her home in Enville. She was a joy to all who knew her, a treasured teacher to a multitude of children, and a precious jewel to her family.
