Mrs. Griggs graduated from MIchie High School, where she played basketball. She was a former computer clerk for General Electric in Selmer, Tennessee, having worked there for approximately 6 years before becoming disabled in an automoble accident. Prior to her accident, she enjoyed athletics, playing softball for the General Electric team and bowling. She also enjoyed woodworking crafts, and was a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Griggs departed this life on April 11, 2007 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 59 Years, 7 Months, 19 Days. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Vernon M. Griggs of Selmer, Tennessee; a son, Kevin Surratt of Stantonville, Tennessee; two step-daughters: Deborah Ann Dorroh and husband Robert of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Angela Marie Brashear and husband Thomas of Lexington, Kentucky; a grandson, Michael Surratt of Stantonville, Tennessee; a granddaughter, Emily Surratt of Stantonville, Tennessee; a step-grandson, Ethan Brashear of Lexington, Kentucky; two sisters: Jeanette Barnes and husband Hubert of Guys, Tennessee and Shirley A. Jernigan and husband David E. of Selmer, Tennessee; and two brothers: Jimmy Carrol Dicks and wife Dale of Rienzi, Mississippi and Glennon Neal (Butch) Dicks and wife Mary of Guys, Tennessee.
