Linda K. Duke aged 66 who was welcomed into this world on October 30, 1955, by her parents, the late Leroy and Lillian Cleary Duke in Saltillo, TN, has passed away unexpectedly on November 28th, 2021, at Community South Hospital near her Greenwood home due to complications from surgery. Linda moved to Greenwood in 2002 with her friend and companion Tommy Johnson to be closer to her surviving children after a tragic car wreck left her paralyzed in 1995, although she would forever call Gravel Hill, Tennessee her home. Linda will be sadly and forever missed by her loving children, John Dicks and wife Sarah, Tonya Burris, and Jamie Dicks.
Linda is also survived by her sister Annette Duke of Sardis, TN; grandchildren: Amanda Carroll Dicks(Beene), John Carroll Dicks, Jr., Samantha Jo Dicks (Morris), Robin Michelle Burris and Lillien Joanne Yoho both of Greenwood, IN, Joshua Lynn Moody Jr. and Alyssa Leah Arnold both of Greenwood, IN, Lynora Marie Roden, Makaila Ann and Aaron Xavier Hindman; Great grandchildren: Thomas Zebedee Beene, Elye Gabryll Beene, Benjamen Mikele Beene, Kiya Nevaeh Parrish, McKynlee Nicole Parrish, Kolton John Dicks, Elijah and Colton Yoho, Christopher Kise Jr.; nieces, Melisa Duke of Memphis, TN, Karen Williams of Pope, MS, Kathy Pearson of Stafford, VA, Beverly Smith of Michie, TN, Tammy Barnard of Booneville, MS, Candy Coln of Rienzi, MS, Leslie Wood of Corinth, MS, Starla Pietranczyk and husband James of Dunkirk, NY, Jolano Lutkemeier of Sardis, TN and Crystal Attnip of Toone, TN; nephews, Dennis Larue of Memphis, TN, Steven Lambert and Edwin Duke both of Michie, TN, Jonathan Wiggins of Alabama and Jr. Wiggins of Henderson, TN; great nephew Nicholas Duke of Michie, TN; cousin Frankie Cleary and wife Karen of Michie, TN; and last but not least, her dear friends Rhonda Dunn and Adrian and Hillary Lloyd from “the other side of the pond” England. She loved and spoke so highly of you both and cherished your friendships.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her children’s father, Glenon Neal Dicks; three sisters: Doris Larue, Jeannette Gilliland, and Brenda Diane Duke; and four brothers: Earl Duke, Edwin Duke, James E. Duke, and Captain James L. Duke.
Linda planned for a small personal funeral and burial not far from her hometown. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her over the years. She loved and appreciated each and every one of you. For those who have known and loved Linda in her all too short journey with us, her visitation/remembrance will be at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer, TN on January 8th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. followed by a graveside service being held at Hope McNairy County Memorial Cemetery in Selmer, TN @ 1:00 PM.
