Mrs. McKee passed away Monday evening at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
The wife of R L. McKee, who survives, she was retired as an ombudsman with the State of Mississippi, where she had worked for over 20 years. She had worked a total of almost 30 years with the State in various other capacities. She was born Jan. 30, 1943, in Walnut, daughter of the late Leo Brown and Amy Iris Keith Brown Gunn and lived her entire life in Tippah County. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Middleton and was an avid collector, especially of dishes and antiques. Her family stated that one of her biggest hobbies was her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, whom she married on April 15, 1961, survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Nancy Mauney and David of Paris, Tenn., Donna Benefield and Jeff of Tupelo, Miss.; two sons and their wives, Steve McKee and Kerry of Middleton, Stacy McKee and Michelle of Ripley, Miss.; two sisters and a brother in law, Doris Sartain of St. Petersburg, Fla., Martha Goolsby and Lonnie of Ripley, Miss.; a brother and his wife, Joe Brown and Frances of Walnut, Miss.; her stepfather, Sewell Gunn of Walnut, Miss.; and seven grandchilren, Cole and Jacob Benefield, Kaylyn, Alyssa, Tyler, Cody and Bryce McKee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Iris Mauney.
