Lillie Mae Harris

November 22, 1913 — October 11, 2006

Lillie Mae Gardner Harris was born November 22, 1913 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Alvie Nathanial and Lena Mae Hopkins Gardner.



She was united in marriage to William Jess Harris in June of 1962. Mr. Harris preceded her in death on December 4, 1999, following 37 years of marriage.



Mrs. Harris was a homemaker, and was a member of the Pleasant Site Baptist Church. Mrs. Harris was a person who loved her family. Not having children of her own, she often became a second mom to her nieces and nephew and many times to the neighbor children. She loved to hear life stories from her family and friends, which were always rewarded with her special smile that everyone remembers. She was a beautiful quilt maker, a caretaker of many, a sharing neighbor and was blessed with a gift for anything that grew, especially her flowers. To her family she was Aunt Mae, to her friends she was the best of friends.



Mrs. Harris departed this life on October 11, 2006 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 92 Years, 10 Months, 19 Days. She is survived by four nieces:Barbara Bright and husband Junior of Selmer, Tennessee, Linda Kay Smith and husband Perry of Selmer, Tennessee, Linda Monette Torres and husband Ray of Stantonville, Tennessee and Robbie Gardner-Arnold of Selmer, Tennessee; a nephew, Terry D. Gardner and wife Marilyn of Ramer, Tennessee; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Harris was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Surratt and a brother, Elmer D. Gardner.
