Lillie Mae Kirby Gatewood, 81, of Bolivar, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of W. D. Gatewood, who died in 1985, she was a supervisor at Harmon Automotive for over 20 years where she was President of the worker’s union. Mrs. Gatewood was born May 30, 1925 in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Jack and Callie Lipford Kirby and lived here all of her life. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Curtis Roger Ervin of Pensacola, Florida; two daughters, Bernice Ervin Downy of Knoxville and Georgia Young Davis of Bolivar; two sisters, Irene Craft of Jackson, Miss. and Gertrude Parsons of Memphis; five grandchildren, Carol Young Grantham, Evelyn Cross, Lillian Branham, Samuel and Makenzie Ervin; five great grandchildren, Steven Blake Grantham and Shawn Alan Grantham, Kayla and Daniel Cross and Nathaniel Branham, his wife, Gabriel and a life-long friend, William Null of Memphis. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Regina Ervin and a sister, Louise Hatch.
