Lessie Creecy Walker was born June 26, 1918 in Wayne Co., Tennessee, the daughter of the late Hobert and Rose Dugger Creecy. She was united in marriage to J. W. Walker Jr. on October 17, 1944 and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1989.
Mrs. Walker was a retired Wayne County school teacher, a member of the Topsy Church of Christ in Waynesboro, Tennessee, a member of the Topsy Home Demonstration Club, and Tennessee Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Walker departed this life on January 6, 2009 at her home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 90 years, 6 months, 11 days.
She is survived by a son, James M. (Jim) Walker of Waynesboro, TN; a step-granddaughter, Shelley Garret; two step-great-grandchildren, Mark and Catherine Garret all of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Calvin Creecy of Waynesboro, TN, Gene Creecy of Toledo, OH; a sister, Geneva Prince of Ethridge, TN; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis Creecy, Elbert Creecy, and Melvin Creecy.
Services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Ronnie Pope officiating. Burial will follow in the Swiss Cemetery at Hohenwald, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 5 pm to 9 pm and Friday, January 9, 2009 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.
