Lermond Virginia Hammons Baker, age 91 of Bolivar, died Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Pine Meadows Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.She was born August 5, 1917 in Hardeman County to the late Louis Edmond and Lillie Dickerson Hammons. She married Neely S. Baker November 14, 1935 who later passed January 5, 1990. She worked as a sales clerk at Lax Grocery, Moore's Grocery and Dollar General. She loved needlepoint and crocheting and sold many of her items over the years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bolivar and participated in the WMU and the Golden Sounds Choir.She is survived by a daughter, Faye Moore and her husband J. D., a son Robert Wayne Baker and his wife Phyllis, and a brother, Billy Hammons, all of Bolivar; four grandchildren, Rick Cody and his wife Dawn, Jeff Baker and his wife Mandy, Chris Baker and his wife Toni, and Phil Baker an dhis wife Erin; and seven great-grandchildren, Jace Molina, Pace Baker, Will and Sam Baker, and Hope, Emma, and Noah Cody.In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Keith Hatch, who passed February 1, 1975, a brother, Louis Edmond Hammons, and a sister, Johnnie Shearin.
