LEON MORRIS
Henderson, TN: Collis Leon Morris age 88 passed away March 9, 2015 at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born December 14, 1926 in Henderson County, the son of the late W. F. (Famous) and Mae Holmes Morris. He was raised in Rhodes Town in Henderson County and attended school there. He served with the U.S. Army during the Occupation of Japan after WWII. He was married to Betty Rowland on November 7, 1953 and they made their home in Henderson since that time. He was employed by Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation as a meter reader for thirty years retiring in 1984. Since that time he had worked for the Chester County Independent, the Jackson Sun and the Commercial Appeal as paper carriers, and also drove for Guinn’s and was a courier for People’s Bank. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM Lodge # 485 and a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Betty Rowland Morris of Henderson; a daughter, Janice C. Morris of Henderson; a son, Keith Morris of Henderson; one grandson, Kevin Morris and one great grandson, Alex Morris; one sister, Lounell Grissom of Huron and a brother, Waymon Morris and wife Faye of Enville.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Bro. Kenneth Kitchen and Bro. Glenn Harris officiating and burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday.
There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM Tuesday at Johnson Chapel.
