Leon Griffin
Beloved Husband, Cherished Father, Adored Grandfather
Leon Griffin departed this life on October 29, 2023, having lived 75 wonderful years in his home of Michie, Tennessee. Born on May 6, 1948, he proudly served his country as a Sergeant of the 52nd Artillery Group in the United States Army through Vietnam, from March of 1968 until December of 1969. Making it home safely, he married his high school sweetheart, Dianna Rickman Griffin, on June 28, 1971, and they remained married for fifty-two years. He is survived by his wife that he adored, his only daughter, Amber Griffin Shaw (Nicholas), and two grandchildren, Harper Shaw and Madison Shaw, that called him “Gaga.” The son of James Henry Griffin and Katie Mae Blanton Griffin, he leaves behind his brother, James E. Griffin (Sylvia), and his sisters, Diane Qualls (Robert), Jane Morse (Mark), and Kay Sanders (Doug), and many nieces, nephews, and their children, all of whom he proudly celebrated. Mr. Griffin was known for his kind heart, his proud smile, and above all, his love for his family, especially his two granddaughters. You could not be around him very long before he would share his most recent pictures, their visits, and how much he loved them. Being a grandfather was the greatest gift of his lifetime.
