Ms. Leoda Mae Nichols was born September 6, 1918 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Johnny M. and Lou Ella Huggins Nichols.
Ms. Nichols, a Methodist in belief was a retired farmer and quilt maker. She enjoyed quilting for herself and others. Her work was well known in many different states. She had lost count of how many quilts she had pieced and quilted.
Ms. Nichols departed this life on September 22, 2006 at Whitfield Nursing Home in Corinth, Mississippi at the age of 88 Years, 16 Days. She is survived by two sisters, Eather Capooth and husband Junior of Michie, TN and Ruby Nichols of Corinth, MS; brother-in-law, Carlos Chandler of Corinth, MS; four nephews , Melton McCormack of Phoenix, AZ, Dwight Chandler of Angier,NC, Orvil Nichols of Lawrenceburg, TN and Johnny Nichols of Booneville, MS; three nieces, Sandra Reed of Corinth, MS, Dorothy Leonowits of Horn Lake, MS and Diane Brasel of Tupelo, MS; several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Thurman W. Nichols and Valcor L. Nichols; two sisters, Vernice Nichols Chandler and Idotha McCormack; one sister-in-law, Hattie Nichols; one brother-in-law, Bruce McCormack
