Lela Dean Mitchell

Lela Dean Sherrill Mitchell of Montgomery, AL was born May 24, 1932 in Wayne County, TN the daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Mary Viola Banks Sherrill. She was united in marriage to Eugene Mitchell with whom she was married for 25 years. Mr. Mitchell preceded her in death on April 2 ,2000.

Mrs. Mitchell departed this life on July 15, 2016 in Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 84 Years, 1 Month, 21 Day. She was a Nursing Home Aid for many years and was a member of the Fannin Road Baptist Church in Montgomery Al.

She is survived by daughters, Connie Hale and husband Sammy of Prattville, AL, Cynthia McWhirter and husband Chris of Atlanta, GA, sons, Carrol Eiland and wife Terri of Montgomery, AL, Carl Eiland of Prattville, AL, and Mark Mitchell of Waycross, GA, sister, Faye McCurry Holt and husband Raymond of Iron City, TN, step son Mark Mitchell of Waycross GA, 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by a daughter, Clodis Ann Eiland; son, Charlie Eiland; three brothers, Carvel Sherrill, Joel Sherrill, Thomas Sherrill; two sisters, Sue Dixon and Lesbie Ayers.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Cromwell Crossroads Church in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Greg Eaton and John E. Banks officiating. Grandsons and great - grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Cromwell Crossroads Cemetery near Collinwood, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
