Lee Nell King

October 26, 1932 — February 12, 2020

Mrs. Lee Nell Stanfill King, the widow of Lloyd King, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 12, 2020 at the age of 87 years. She was born October 26, 1932, the daughter of the late Elder Hallie T. and Myrtle Stanfill.

Mrs. King was born and reared in the New Friendship Community of Chester County. She attended New Friendship School and graduated from Chester County High School in 1950. She and Lloyd were united in marriage in Corinth, Mississippi on August 18, 1951. They were married for 67 years before Mr. Lloyd passed away on January 15, 2019.

She was a full-time wife and mother. In 1970, she began working for the Chester County Board of Education as a dietitian at the Junior High. Retiring in 1995 after twenty-five years, over half of them working as cafeteria manager.

Following her love of genealogy, she published three books on the history of New Friendship and surrounding communities. She worked part-time for the Chester County Independent and for Hester Publication. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church and had been a member of the Chester County Historical Society and the Chester County DAR.

She enjoyed going to church and praising her Lord. Sharing her love for the Lord came easy for her. Her family was precious to her. As one person said, “she would fight a circle for them” putting herself last.

Mrs. King is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Tommy, deceased) Connor and a son, Jerry (Lisa) King; four grandchildren, Randy Connor, Emily(Tracy) Harris, Lane (Jenny) Wise, and Adam (Ashlee) Wise; and six great-grandchildren, Hank, Thomas, Maggie, Ely, Alixis, and LacyAnn.
Preceding her to heaven were her parents, her husband; a daughter-in-law, Beverly King; son-in-law, Tommy Connor; a grandson, Tyler Dunivan, and sister, LaVerne Lott.
