Mr. Ledbetter was born and reared in Henderson, the son of the late Claude Martin and Cora Clinton Jones Ledbetter. He graduated from Chester County High School and served as president of the class of 1947. After high school he was drafted into the U. S. Army and served in the army of occupation in Germany. After his service in the Army he returned to Henderson and made his home on Main Street and farmed the Ledbetter farm. He moved to the farm in 1991, where he row cropped and raised all sorts of animals. He had worked for many years as an officer with the Chester County Election Commission, working the City Hall prescient on Election Day. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson.
He is survived by two daughters; Kathy Ledbetter Hall and husband Jeff of Henderson, and Jimmie Massengill Thompson of Jackson and a son Randy Naylor of Henderson. He was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Massengill Gray in 2001.
He is also survived by a brother Bill Ledbetter of Phenoix, AZ and five sisters; Faye Ruth Mullins of Enville, Lois Miller of Troy, MI, Louise Willoughby of Memphis, Ann Hidinger of Memphis and Nancy Smith of McPherston, KS; a step-brother Edward Pitts of Henderson. He was preceded by three brothers; Don, Joe, and Gene Ledbetter.
Mr. Ledbetter has ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
