LAWRENCE C. ‘LARRY’ MOFFITT, JR.
Henderson, TN: Lawrence Combs Moffitt, Jr., age 74, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in Jackson, TN and raised in Henderson the son of the late Brigadier General Lawrence C. Moffitt, Sr. and Alice Isobel Ingram Moffitt. He attended schools in Henderson.
Larry was kind and loving to everybody and everybody in Henderson knew and loved Larry. He was involved in the Henderson National Guard as an honorary member through his father’s Administration. Larry was involved in many of the local civic activities in Chester County, besides being an honorary National Guardsman he was also an honorary member of the Henderson Auxiliary Police. He was a Baptist.
Larry had been involved in the Special Olympics and had won many awards, ribbons, and trophies. He had made his home in Selmer the past 17 years.
He is survived by a sister, Nitzi Moffitt Melton of Jackson, TN and nieces Lydia Smith (David) and Bitzi Wyatt (Billy); nephews, James ‘Chuck’ Melton (Martha) and the late William ‘Bill’ Melton and a late brother-in-law, Billie Ralph Melton.
He is survived by great nieces, Nikole Melton, Jill Bland, Lauren Cearley, Taylor Smith, Mary Kincaid, Holly Green, Katie Bridger and Travis Wyatt and the late Elizabeth Rose Melton and special friends Don Ellis of Henderson and Jerry and Vicki Gilliam.
