Henderson: Lawrence H. Doyle, age 60, died Monday, August 14, 2006, at his home after a nine month bout with cancer.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, from the Chapel of Leon Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Geary and Rev. Charles Ward officiating and burial will follow in the Henderson City Cemetery.
He was born in Chester County, the son of Maxine Wood Doyle Darby and the late Herman Doyle. He attended school in Chester County and graduated Chester County High School in 1964. He was married to Pat Graves on October 14, 1966 and they made their home in Henderson. He worked at Guinn Bros. Dodge, Chrysler, and Plymouth for several years. In 1976, Mr. Doyle became a Funeral Director, worked at Casey Funeral Home in Henderson, and worked there until 1983. He later owned and operated Doyle’s Office Products and a Sears Catalog Store for ten years. He had worked for the past fourteen years as a Funeral Director for Leon Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Doyle was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and was Chairman of the Deacons. He enjoyed gospel music, and playing a guitar and antique cars. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could change the mood of anyone with his one-liners and positive attitude.
He is survived by his wife Pat Graves Doyle of Henderson; two sons Bryan Doyle of Madison, MS and Christopher Doyle of Henderson; his mother Maxine Doyle Darby and step father Marlin Darby of Jackson; a brother Mike Doyle and his wife Patsy of Henderson; a niece Hannah Doyle of Henderson; father and mother-in-law Victor and Naomi Graves of Henderson.
The family will receive friends at Leon Johnson Funeral Home after 5:00 PM on Wednesday.
