Lavelle Weatherington

Mary Lavelle Dickson Weatherington was born September 16, 1914 in Dyer County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Newt B. and Nellie Frances Pugh Dickson. On August 7, 1937 she was united in marriage to Athel Weatherington who preceded her in death on January 7, 1990. Lavelle worked as a bookkeeper for Parts, Inc. in Memphis, Tennessee; after retirement, she and Athel moved to the Milledgeville area in 1977. A member of the Milledgeville Church of Christ, she always had a tremendous amount of compassion for other people. She was a great cook, enjoyed sewing, and loved birds and gardening. Her home in Milledgeville was always incredibly neat and surrounded by flowers. Lavelle Weatherington passed from this life May 29, 2008 at Quince Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Memphis, Tennessee at 93 years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Joyner and her husband, Bill, of Memphis, Tennessee, her stepson, Ward Weatherington of Memphis, Tennessee, her sister, Aileen Weatherington of Milledgeville, Tennessee and her niece, Carolyn Roberts of Memphis, Tennessee, as well as six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Other than her husband, Athel, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Otha Dickson.
