Lavada Kirk Young was born September 7, 1926 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Stanton and Lula Tackett Kirk.
She was united in marriage to Bedford Eugene Young on May 6, 1955. Mr. Young preceded her in death on February 19, 2002, following 46 years of marriage.
Mrs. Young was a 1947 graduate of Ramer High School. She was formerly employed by McNairy Central High School in Selmer as a Teacher's Aide, and also served as manager of the Selmer Antique Mall. Mrs. Young was a faithful member of the Antioch church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Young departed this life on January 5, 2013 in Bells, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 3 Months, 29 Days. She is survived by two daughters, Nelda Young and husband Steve and Bobbie Martin and husband William, all of Jackson, TN; two grandchildren, Robert Steven Young, Jr. and wife Maryalice of Raleigh, NC and Nolen Kirk Young of Nashville, TN; a great-grandchild, Mary Catherine Young of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Oleta McCullar and husband Vester Lee of Ramer, TN; two brothers, William Hester Kirk and wife Helen of Collierville, TN and Orval Kirk and wife Betty of Pigeon Forge, TN; a sister-in-law, Lola Williams of Middleton, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by a sister, Arminta DePoyster, and two brothers, James Ralph Kirk and Robert Milford Kirk.
