LARRY RHODES
Henderson, TN: Larry Van Rhodes age 72 passed away July 16, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born April 24, 1947 in Perry County, the son of the late Melvin ‘Punk’ Rhodes and Irma Jean Weaver. He married Joan Ruth on August 7, 1971.
Larry worked for Southwest Electric as a journeyman lineman for over twenty years before retiring due to health reasons. He was also a preacher most of his adult life. He was currently Pastor of the Lighthouse Apostolic Church in Henderson.
He loved fishing, riding motorcycles and pulling pranks on others. He helped anyone he could when they were in need.
Mr. Rhodes is survived by a son, Michael Rhodes (Sherri) of Henderson and a daughter, Angie Sikes (Fiancé Michael Morrison) of Henderson; six grandchildren, Tristan Rhodes, Trianna Sikes, Tailynn Morrison, Ethan Rhodes, Emma Rhodes and Tristan Leverett and one great-great grandchild, Ja’Keyson James Griffin and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan Ruth Rhodes (Oct. 23, 2017) and a brother, Billy Denham, Sr.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 20, at The Springs Pentecostal Church at Jackson with Bro. Larry Hamby officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors - East Main 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday and beginning at 12:00 Noon Saturday at the Church.
